Description Run away with me tonight.
Meet me on the avenue.
By the park,
In the corner of my mind,
With no prying eyes to see us as we depart.
We can fly into the evening air,
Hide away on the moon.
You can wear the breeze in your hair,
And the stars in your eyes.
Those precious emerald eyes,
I used to memorize.

Run away with me tonight.
Pretend that no time has passed,
And we are still two lovers.
That you dream of me on lonely evenings,
And I dream of you on sunny days.
And that somewhere in our reveries we still converge.
That my hands can still trace the contours of your body
And study each feature of your gorgeous face.
That every eye of the world can look at me,
As though I were nothing more than refuse.
And I wouldn't care.
Because I'm standing next to you.

Because I know the way that body,
Men only wish they could explore,
Sinks beneath my touch,
And melts in accordance with each stroke,
Each kiss,
Each gentle movement of our bodies against each other.
That my name escapes your mouth,
Floating out between those tempting crimson lips.
And that your tongue knows no other name.
Even if that is a lie.

Permit me the delusion of believing,
That all the world belongs to you and I again.
And I will return you by morning,
Safe and sound.
With a gentle kiss against your forehead.
And a parting smile exchanged between us both.
We will save such things for the morning,
Just run away with me tonight.
And I will be able to let you go again.
Even if that is a lie.

Very sad. Also a bit of a relevant poem, minus a few small details. Sometimes we have to pretend to keep our heads above the water. Beautiful again, Peter. It's good to find solace in your words. Yes, even though its a sad poem, solace. Let me tell you, you're becoming one of my favorite poets and right now I'm liking you much more than my all-time favorite Henry Longfellow (Which is a big deal! )

Goodness, thank you. What a high compliment.
The solace of my words is often all I have. I take some relief in being able to express them when the muse cooperates. I am simply glad you folks enjoy the product of my catharsis.
