Description Hello there.
As this shall be my deviant ID, I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself to you.

My name is Peter Dawes. And I am a vampire.
I feel somewhat Patrick Bateman-esque when I state it as such. The natural reaction is often that of either a chuckle or a raised eyebrow, followed by nervous laughter that indicates you think I've lost my mind. As such I normally keep it to myself when amongst mortal kind.

I promise I'm not insane. There is a story behind this being you have come upon.

I was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania; the only son of John and Marjorie Dawes. For the better part of my life, I'd lived outside of Lancaster and in the midst of Philadelphia, where I was a doctor for several years. But then, I became acquainted with a red-headed woman named Sabrina.
Things have never quite been the same since then.

I was twenty-eight at the time. That was roughly twenty-five years ago. In the intervening years, I've lived quite a varied existence. I've lived in Philadelphia, Toronto, Costa Rica, and Venezuela. I've traveled throughout Europe and into portions of Asia. I've held job titles such as 'assassin', 'seer', and, most recently 'second in command'. My closest friend and older brother is named Robin (or Michael O'Shane if you go by his mortal name) and I, myself, once possessed the moniker Flynn.

The most important fact about me, though, besides my immortality are two beings I often refer to in my poetic works.
They are Lydia and John. Not quite the young ones I remember any longer. They reside elsewhere, due to a very complicated set of circumstances it would take hours to divulge.

My children, plainly put. I miss them terribly. You all see the overflow of my poetic catharsis.

Otherwise, the list of quirks regarding me is as typical as any of yours, with the exception of my job title.
- As a second, I assist my brother in overseeing our coven. Which, I assure you, is never a dull moment.
- I smoke cigarettes and prefer Scotch.
- You all have given me the taste for coffee, which has now become a vice.
- I still swing the sword around from time to time, though not as assassin or seer. It is a katana with a red and black hilt.
- I still prefer listening to Depeche Mode and Joy Division. Though I am often tempted toward other music.
- I've grown to enjoy poetry quite a bit and explore its various forms.
- I also enjoy prose, however. Such is how I got my start as a writer.

I have been laying down an autobiographical set of tales centered around my vampiric life. I also pick away at short stories and a set of tales entitled Prelude to a Seer when time allows. Prelude is the story of my former mistress Sabrina and my brother Robin, prior to my arrival upon the scene.

Feel free to say hi. I don't bite, although I might be persuaded otherwise if the offer is enticing enough. And do be sure to thank *Destinyfall for this portrait of me at my desk. She was kind enough to illustrate it for me.

Fare thee well, kind friends
Peter

"However, this is my artistic realm and the epicenter of my creative chaos. And it looks as such." Hear hear! If only I could get the rest of my family to understand this simple fact

It is very difficult for the non-creative to understand the chaos of the creative mind. We accommodate them by attempting to look orderly.

Hahaha and attempting to talk "sense". XD Because unfortunately while I understand what makes sense to them they don't seem to understand what makes sense to me hahaha

Such is how it is, I suppose. The immortal world and mortal world alike both touch hands on this fact. My not-as-creative compatriots are a bit baffled by the artistic side to me.
Why shouldn't one of us pen poetry?

Exactly But this thought is far too subversive and strange for most people. 'oetry? Poetry? What's that?'

You really shouldn't smoke though, it's bad for you

Unfortunately. Thank God I can't contract cancer.
You would think, as a former doctor, I would have known better. But that was a lifetime ago.

SoraNoMiki In reply to peterdawes [2008-03-29 17:49:02 +0000 UTC]

Indeed, you would think. Hmm, I think it could still be a possibility you could contract cancer. Or do you never get sick at all?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

peterdawes In reply to SoraNoMiki [2008-04-02 01:36:31 +0000 UTC]

Never get sick, no. At least not in that manner.
Hangovers are another matter entirely. An abundance of alcohol effects the lot of us equally, sad to say. But. . . no colds, disease, etc.

You may find this peculiar, but I actually miss the experience of lying down and resting out a cold or flu. Sounds horribly masochistic, but it was familiar. Mortal. You knew you were still alive and being touched somehow by the universe around you. Like this, however, there is a horrible disconnect.

::soft twinkle:: Dare I say je vous adore? Your portrait at any rate...and your choice of lifestyle...and your poetry...and your angst.

Leonie is my alter ego as well. My friend Cris Griffin, quickreaver, has made her image famous, but I prefer to keep her to myself for the most part. Some things...are better experienced...

Bienvenue, mon ami.

Yo, tambiΓ©n, mi amiga.
You are are yet a new friend, but already a dear one.

Cris Griffin is quite the accomplished artist and a personal favorite as well. She painted this portrait: [link]
Managed to capture the intimidating bastard I once was in her typically sensual manner.

i swear to god, peter, i've never heard of a vampire who is as open about it as you are. i respect you for that
and i agree with `Mithgariel. if i was anyone's fangirl, i'm already yours
confession time: i just started reading "The Vampire Flynn" #1 yesterday. sorry. i've never really had any time, and i had a few minutes to get through the prologue, and about three paragraphs of chapter one. i promise i'll finish your story someday.

Hard to conceal one's true nature. And not worthwhile. It becomes difficult to explain my life circumstances in a manner that makes any sense.

Consider the feeling mutual and the pressure nonexistent. You humor this poet as it is. Read at your leisure and comment if you will. Or, if you'd prefer the abridged version. . . Just for you, dear: [link]
