Description
Hello there. As this shall be my deviant ID, I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself to you.
My name is Peter Dawes. And I am a vampire.
I feel somewhat Patrick Bateman-esque when I state it as such. The natural reaction is often that of either a chuckle or a raised eyebrow, followed by nervous laughter that indicates you think I've lost my mind. As such I normally keep it to myself when amongst mortal kind.
I promise I'm not insane. There is a story behind this being you have come upon.
I was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania; the only son of John and Marjorie Dawes. For the better part of my life, I'd lived outside of Lancaster and in the midst of Philadelphia, where I was a doctor for several years. But then, I became acquainted with a red-headed woman named Sabrina.
Things have never quite been the same since then.
I was twenty-eight at the time. That was roughly twenty-five years ago. In the intervening years, I've lived quite a varied existence. I've lived in Philadelphia, Toronto, Costa Rica, and Venezuela. I've traveled throughout Europe and into portions of Asia. I've held job titles such as 'assassin', 'seer', and, most recently 'second in command'. My closest friend and older brother is named Robin (or Michael O'Shane if you go by his mortal name) and I, myself, once possessed the moniker Flynn.
The most important fact about me, though, besides my immortality are two beings I often refer to in my poetic works.
They are Lydia and John. Not quite the young ones I remember any longer. They reside elsewhere, due to a very complicated set of circumstances it would take hours to divulge.
My children, plainly put. I miss them terribly. You all see the overflow of my poetic catharsis.
Otherwise, the list of quirks regarding me is as typical as any of yours, with the exception of my job title.
- As a second, I assist my brother in overseeing our coven. Which, I assure you, is never a dull moment.
- I smoke cigarettes and prefer Scotch.
- You all have given me the taste for coffee, which has now become a vice.
- I still swing the sword around from time to time, though not as assassin or seer. It is a katana with a red and black hilt.
- I still prefer listening to Depeche Mode and Joy Division. Though I am often tempted toward other music.
- I've grown to enjoy poetry quite a bit and explore its various forms.
- I also enjoy prose, however. Such is how I got my start as a writer.
I have been laying down an autobiographical set of tales centered around my vampiric life. I also pick away at short stories and a set of tales entitled Prelude to a Seer when time allows. Prelude is the story of my former mistress Sabrina and my brother Robin, prior to my arrival upon the scene.
Feel free to say hi. I don't bite, although I might be persuaded otherwise if the offer is enticing enough.
Fare thee well, kind friends
Peter

...Damn! I would have faved this even if it wasn't really cool, just because the first three names mentioned, excluding Patrick Bateman, are Peter, ohn and Marjorie.

I am not trying to be offensive, I am genuinely curious when I ask, are you really a vampire? For two years now I have been fasinated with them. I write my own stories which I think (though I have not read yours) are nothing compared to what you write. If you truly are a vampire, then do you mind answering a question or two?

this is........ how do i put it? breathtakingly beautiful..... if that doesn't sound too cheesy. it doesn't does it? anyway, i will look into your poetry. it sounds intersting. and i am a sucker for good writing! and i am most sure that your writing is good, i get this feeling........ i also wanted to say hi, and if this doesn't sound rude or offensive, but is is it possible to become a vampire? and are you really a vampire? it is just that i have a dream in a far off fantasy of becoming a vimpire or werewolf.......

I just stumbled onto this (and the rest of your work), and have to admit I'm very intrigued...I wish more vampires would write, and write with your ethos. I'll be visiting more often, rest assured. But I wanted to (informally?) introduce myself. It's a pleasure to meet you, Peter. Or Flynn, depending on what you go by these days.

My apologies for the delay in responding. It has been chaotic here.
My inspiration to write? I am not certain. I do not need to dig too deeply to come up with things I need to express. Emotion. Experience. I have a storyteller's heart. The mechanics come with practice, practice, practice, but the heart must wish to spin a tale or express a sentiment first.

Typically, my desk looks much messier. With a desk lamp instead of candlelight. But her interpretation has a much better ambiance to it.

Agreed. Although I think a few tomes and stacks of paper may have been a nice touch too, this works just fine ^^
My desk is so messy I constantly loose things in it. It is organised as: "Miscellaenous paper pile #1", "Miscellaneous paper pile #2", etc. etc.

We share a similar organization system.
Important papers (with a few non-important papers scattered here and there.)
Non-important papers (with a few important papers scattered here and there.)
Notebooks stacked with newspapers or magazines. A book for good measure. The kitchen sink somewhere in the midst of it all.

A similar thing happened with my Depeche Mode disc. It took a night's worth of cleaning for me to locate it.
I am missing one of my favorite pens, now. *sigh* I suppose more cleaning is in order.

I often have visitors. My desk area is the only unkempt portion of my room; however, I've been entertaining more people within that area. I should make it a point to keep it better organized.
Perhaps find a few CDs while I'm at it.

With some, it isn't so much a problem. They are the epitome of disorganization themselves and the remainder of my living area is meticulous. However, others take anal to a whole other plane. They are the ones who cast a raised eyebrow at the mess.
One figures the second of a coven would be better organized. However, this is my artistic realm and the epicenter of my creative chaos. And it looks as such.
