Description

The Turbulent class Heavy Frigate is a heavy escort vessel used by the Imperial Armada and the Space Marine Legions. They are designed to drive ahead of the main fleet and engage rival scouting units when they encounter them. Throughout the Turbulent class's history, there have been many acute and piratical actions against the enemies of the Emperor.

Some admirals are not fond of the Turbulent, citing its inefficient energy weapon transfer systems. In addition, the vessels contain ancient internal communication systems of brass vacuum pipes and electric lights. However, such mockery is best done behind closed doors, as several senior admirals served aboard these feisty ships.

The Turbulent class Heavy Frigate is also found in the fleets of the Legiones Astartes. Because of the mobile nature of the Legions, these Frigate are equipped with two interconnected Gellar Fields. Should one fail, the other will continue to protect the ship from the tides of pure cannot-be of the Warp. Many of these frigates have been up-gunned and are heavily automated.

Shown here is Turbulent class Heavy Frigate Asagao (朝顔) of the 11th Legion. This Heavy Frigate has gained a reputation as a "lucky" ship. The Asagao have participated in many of the most glorious naval actions of the Combined Fleet, whilst coincidentally either surviving or not being involved at all in the most disastrous.
