Saber axes are weapons dating back to the ancient martial schools of the world of Ibad III during the Age of Strife.
The preferred weapon of the swordmasters of Ibad, saber axes are brutal if elegant weapons that rely on finesse rather than force. The metal of their blades is pressed-folded and stamped many times over before being micro-serrated with a sharp edge. It is said that the swordsmiths of Ibad III who produced these weapons have their own rituals of forging. They impress a distinct pattern in each blade that acts as a signature to those with the knowledge to read them.
When the 11th legion absorbed the school of Ibad into its organization, they turned these fearsome weapons into power swords.

To own a saber ax is now a sign of prestige and rank within the legion, one given to champions, officers, and elite troops.
