Description
Any time a power pole is down, blocking a street, it's not a good thing. But this traffic sign, which was knocked over by one of the four house barges (or the lone house boat) forced inland by Hurricane Sandy, sends a mixed message. On the left in the background, one of the two house barges which sank is visible; and to the right is one of the two "houses of Doom" - as Sally and I like to call them - constructed here so far. There was another house barge that sank, as well as one house boat. A large, old, wooden cabin cruiser was stranded ashore in the marina; yet, miraculously, two house barges remained in place - virtually unscathed. We were not one of the fortunate two.
