Description
As I walked along the trail on Sunday morning, a trail that encircles the 15 acre Mill Pond in Wantagh, this image of shadow-laced snow, with many gradations in tone - contributed by the steps of passersby - captured my eye. We have had nearly continuous snow cover since the blizzard on the day after Christmas; so some, if not all, of the snow visible in this picture - and the embedded foot prints and impressed tire tracks - could be remnantal of that storm. With the weather having warmed up the last few days, even much of this snow may now be melted away. We're in for another blast of arctic air though, with overnight lows of 16 F predicted for tonight. But hang in there, my fellow New Yorkers - we're halfway to spring! - at least by my reckoning...
