Description During dinner break yesterday, having already eaten during the six o'clock show, I grabbed my camera and headed west. Four and a half blocks from the Fox 5 studio is Central Park, and I went there hoping to catch a sunset over the city, being that it's now daylight saving time. Alas, there wasn't much color in the sky. I did take about a dozen shots of a few different things, including a memorial sculpture to soldiers of World War I. One of those shots will most probably be tomorrow's Picture of the Day.

Today's picture was captured about 150' inside the park, on some branches growing around the base of a boulder, atop which is a beautiful gazebo. I had spotted this gazebo while still outside the park, on Fifth Avenue, shooting the memorial sculture. I thought it would be a great vantage point, if the weather and the sun decided to cooperate, and provide a pretty sunset.

I've tried to identify these flowers, to no avail. At first I thought they might be witch hazel, but they look unlike any pictures of witch hazel blossoms that I've been able to find. They look more like forsythia flowers, but these normally have only four petals. So for now, I'm in the dark as to what they are.

It wasn't until after uploading this image that I noticed the bee, in the bottom left corner of the picture. I'm not sure if it's a honey bee or a bumble bee; and I don't know if it was alive, dormant or deceased. But it blends in very well with its location, whatever its condition may be.
