Description I shot this photograph last November 6th, but I'm not sure at what time. It was obviously at night. The camera data (which is something about digital photography that I absolutely love! I'm not anal enough to keep track of all the info for each image manually. I gave that up after about a week with my first real camera, back in '76 or '78) shows that it was taken at 12:00:03 PM. So I guess that I hadn't reprogrammed the time yet, in my - at that point - brand new (albeit used) camera.

When I decided to post this image today, I wondered if I'd be able to find out why it was lit red, white and yellow. A quick Google search led to me to the following website: Link This page shows what colors the Empire State Building was illuminated with, and for which occasion, for every night during the last 14 months! A quick glance down the list was fascinating, to me; and it turns out that on 11/6/10 the occasion was the 5th Anniversary of the Broadway Show "Jersey Boys". Who woulda thunk it? Not me, that's for sure.

There's a really cool widget on the site, also (if you haven't yet clicked the link): It allows you to "light the Empire State Building with your own signature lighting scheme" and create a customized e-postcard! How cool is that?
