Description
In this version he's not what you might expect of a traditional scarecrow... he's more like an animated golem/frankenstein.Related content

Cheers, Sean. Glad ya like it!
It takes years of practice! Although painting digitally does make life so much easier, I don't know how to mix traditional paint on canvas anymore.

Yep PS rocks! I do tend to draw in pencil first then scan it in though. I also draw a page in my sketch book everyday, that has really helped me to improve I think!

The way to get over jumping to detail too soon is to think more abstractly about the shapes you are drawing and not being too precious. Maybe try limiting yourself to drawing a whole pic in 30 seconds. That way you can't get hung up on detail.
As for what to draw, I tend to let my memory take over. If I watched Dawn of the Dead the night before, I am probably going to draw loads of zombies and characters with shotguns in my sketch book. Don't worry about coming up with the coolest idea in the world, just try to draw well from your memory first, the cool ideas will come later!

His face reminds me of Eddie from Iron Maiden Pretty cool, I'd never seen anything similar, since most "human scarecrows" look like emo dudes, but this one really catches the "essence" of what such character should be, great job.
As for the painting style, the smooth coloring with sharp edges (like the grass below) looks great!

Thanks for the feedback, Rafael! I really appreciate it.
I was thinking "Eddie" too, as I was drawing him!
