I always loved the new sparkster look, it must be fun in bringing out his character emotions with this armour.

The game it self is the best 2.5D game I've ever played and I'm not just saying that cause of my username, RK is an amazeing game.

I think you and your work are very underrated. This deviation is really well done, with an immense amount of detail in the armor and great composition and execution. Very nice job on this, you really deserve more credit for your incredible talent.

Oh, Sparkster, how I love thee

One thing I was actually pleasantly surprised about the difference in design was definitely the more technological feel of Sparkster's armor compared to the medieval version of Axel Gear in the game. Traditionally, it's usually the heroes who stick to the old roots, but I do think it makes more of an impact. As a person who absolutely adores his RKA design, this is a very faithful rendition.

Definitely a fave

Keeps reminding me of He-Man with that pose he's doing.lol

Honestly the changes make him look more like his RKA model. I didn't mind the second version of Sparkster with the blond hair and less armor, but he looked more like a Sonic character and less original or unique. That and that goofy dance jig he'd do when he hung upside down by his tail.lol

Atleast you can say this possum is AWESOME unlike a certain other possum who claims to be awesome cause he can kick someone's butt.XD

It's been like... 15 years since I saw that cute lil' opossum in action? I only saw one of the Sparkster Games for the Super Nintendo when I was small, never had the chance to play the games because I never had a Sega MegaDrive.

A very close friend of mine just showed me the first game on her MegaDrive and I was very amazed about the gameplay and the character arts, also the music made me go crazy because it sounded very cool!
I buyed the Super Nintendo Sparkster Game about 3 weeks ago and I still can't stop playing it *giggle*

Back to Topic:
So I guess you are an official Artist for the Konami Company, did I get it right?

I know this might be a very long comment here, I'm just a curious one with a childish attitude

Firstly I must say that this artwork looks fantastic! I really like to see such Artworks in good, big quality because it's hard to find them in the internet (I like to collect official artworks very much).

I really like how Sparkster turned out here, the coloration is just awesome and the anatomy just looks perfect! I can feel that it's not easy for an Concept Artist to get the right atmosphere all the time, is it? I draw since 15 years now and still I need to practise a lot (especially coloring...), so I'm always up to see different artists and styles on DA. I hope I really got it right that you are one of the members who worked on the new Rocket Knight game? |D Otherwise I really look stupid *bricked* This picture DESERVES a +Fav!

But still I have two questions, you don't need to answer if you don't want to

1.) How did you came up with the idea of giving Sparkster and Axel Gear this new look? I really like the armors and the characters themselfs still, but I was confused that Sparkster hasn't his blond, spiky hair anymore and that Axel has now black hair instead of orange/blond like in the past, also his Armor changed from dark purple into dark red.

I know this might be a silly question, but why did you choose to give him a red armor? Has it something to do with this traditional color-game for rivals? I mean Sonic and Knuckles as an example, blue VS. red, rivals but somewhere friends.

2.) I saw the new Rocket Knight 2010 on Youtube and I really was amazed about the gameplay, story and the lovely animations, and of course of the humor in the cutscenes (I love those silly pigs, never thought to see them again after the first gime *gigle*) and the music.
It is already released but I'm confused about the PC version of it. I live in Germany and I was searching for it lately after I heard that the PC version is out since the 26th June 2010, but still I can't find it and I read something about STEAM and later it was said that the PC Version won't be released in Europe.
What is STEAM anyway, and is it true that the PC Version won't be released in Europe?

Thanks for the kind comments, Saphiria.
To answer some of your questions:
I'm a freelance concept artist, and was kindly asked by Climax and Konami to help out on the redesigns. So yes, I did draw these pics.
There are many reasons why various elements of Sparksters design were tweeked and changed, most of those decisions are made by Konami, and I just help to realise their vision. So all I can say is, I like their new direction. If you take a look at the official Rocket Knight page on Facebook, [link] it might answer your questions in more detail. Also, I'm sure it will tell you where you can get the game from and on what platform.

Thanks again for the Fave! :-D

Thank you very much for answering my questions, Peter. I really appreciate your openhearted characteristic and helpfulness I will take a look on the offical Rocket Knight page to see if I find something about the "Rocket Knight PC Version will not be released in Europe" rumour!

And you're very welcome!
You really did a good job with the redesigns of Sparkster, Axel Gear, the Pigs and the Wolfs, and I would really appreciate more Artworks from you Also I would like to see your works again in the upcoming Rocket Knight games!
Well, as freelance concept artist... I guess you will upload and create more Rocket Knight pictures and show them here? I will look forward for new artworks and concept designs from you.
