The ship in this image is a model my son built from scratch. He is an expert model builder and he will take several plastic model kits and use the pieces to make his own models and that is what is meant by "built from scratch."
He sent a picture of the model to me and I put it into one of my space backgrounds.
This is one of his best creations and I'm proud of the resulting image.
Hope you all enjoy it too.

At first I thought this was an entire 3d image, but the ship looked like a physical model and so it is! Amazing detail - I love scratch-built models, it makes that old Battlestar Galactica feel. BTW your son might be interested in a website called artships.com, the modeler there created a ton of kit-bashed spaceships from all sorts of junk.
