Description The second form of the praetorian gear I posted earlier.

This form is a more advanced and powerful variant of the basic state. It can utilize the system's heavy weapons, which makes this the standard battle asset.

You can see an unfortunate federation soldier in the gear's left arm, which gives you an impression of how massive this thing is.

Just like it's first form, this one's power is totally off the charts.

Hehe, I see.Β

But keep in mind, Lemurians are humans as well.

So, what are the goals of the two factions? Is one trying to defend itself or what?

Lemuria mostly acts as an aggressor. There're barely any races that actually know about their existence. Until the pangalactic federation foolishly tries to salvage parts from a long abandoned lemurian base. That will be a major event which will eventually lead into an open war with Lemuria.

But since they are the most advanced race in my story, Lemuria's main goal is to keep balance in the universe. The only time they actually interfere with affairs, is when a certain race acquires and even uses technology that could destroy planets. In those cases, the Lemurian Empire deploys it's nearby fleet and obliterates the enemy. Also, that is one of the few times when praetorians actually move out.

But mostly, the Empire just acts behind the shadows. Until a certain enemy will appear later on. The only enemy capable of posing a real threat to Lemuria, and, well the whole universe.

Right, so the Federation made a mistake which the Lemurians took badly. Although, on the other hand you can't blame the Federation, advanced tech that's been abandoned there for quite a long time, it's like finding a fully functioning ATV in a wasteland; why not?

And, what do these Federation soldiers look like up close? Or, do you not have a rendition of them?

Unless you are violating the very borders of the Lemurian Empire with fully armed warships.

I haven't painted concepts for them yet. But they aren't that really different from most sci-fi troopers out there. They also utilize battlesuits, wear relatively advanced gear and mostly rely on higher numbers, unlike lemurians, who are a lot fewer in numbers.

Oh? I think they would be similar, if yours is similar in tech.Β

The Federation's tactics is similar to our modern ones.Β

They employ less supersoldiers(What supersoldiers they do have are virtual army-slayers), instead focusing on improving the survivability and ability of individual soldiers, which are improved when in close proximity to one another. For example, their MK8 Powered Armor is resistant to most small-arms fire(anything from before the late 79th Century in their universe is downright useless), yet possesses the mechanical strength to let a Marine punch a hole in lighter ship hulls. When Marines are close to one another, their shield generators merge, forming one, more amorphous shield that can take much greater fire. If one standard Marine squad stand still and close, their shields can withstand battle tank shells. Their weapons are mostly ballistic, most recently becoming more Gauss-Gyrojet to increase material efficiency, but they do use other kinds of weaponry, like lasers and plasma-based.

Lightwalker?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tattorack In reply to PeterPrime [2014-06-25 20:39:47 +0000 UTC]

Lightwalkers, flywalkers, starwalkers, landstriders and freewalkers, those are the mech classifications of the Lesser Kirk-Dog species from my universe.

On land, the lightwalker is the most maneuverable and fastest, albiet of lesser firepower, armour and shielding, but has the same power generator class as the landstrider and the starwalker meaning shield regeneration is fast.
The shields are proto-magnetic based, giving resistance to kinetic projectile weaponery, thermal weaponery and ionic weaponery. Its weakneses being pulse weaponry and tachyon weaponry.
The entire mech's system work on artificial metabiolism and boosted bio-electricity since the pilot is the mech (sits inside its mech in a kind of coma, its metabiolism mixing with the mechs artificial one and gets controled like controling your own body).
The lightwalker is hardly ever armed with on-board range weapons, but each one has a proto-megnatic blade in its right arm. Scanners are situated in the head along with comm units and e-brain mental interface systems. Additional short-range deep scanners are situated in the left arm.
Because of its maneuverability it is obligatory for lightwalker pilots to know at least the basics for martial combat.
Range weapons are in the form of long range proton based assault rifles and short range proton based pistols (just to give you the idea of their size, a "pistol" is about the size of an avarage kitchen table, and the assault rifles are at least 4x that size).
A Lesser Kirk Dog size is about sits between 1m to 1.20m.
The lightwalker size is about 5m.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PeterPrime In reply to Tattorack [2014-07-04 00:08:30 +0000 UTC]

Hehe.

Well, in a nutshell, this is one of my story's most powerful beings. This is more than a mere mech, this is actually the extension of a praetorian's body.Β

I don't think this will have many appearances throughout the story, since it's literally completely invulnerable and can even manipulate time and space.
Although this is only the second form. The third and the ultimate forms are the real deal, which can cut spaceships in half in mere seconds lol.

By gods... anything in your universe that can stop it?
(I know a few things from my universe can, but I doubt you can ask for re-enforcements here).

Nope. Not these guys.

Well, only one of the praetorian gears could stop it actually.Β

Do you ever wonder why the other soldiers even exist if you could go stopping in this armor and be untouchable? Β What army in its right mind would ever fight against it? Β Just curious, love the design and the semi religious style to the helm.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PeterPrime In reply to Balnazzara [2014-06-23 23:13:34 +0000 UTC]

There will be a powerful race that will be able to rival the lemurians, and even overpower them in some cases. I just didn't come up with them yet.

But it's true that until that plot happens, Lemuria is just vastly superior to any race in the universe, and because of that, they literally just act as aggressors and rarely involve themselves in affairs, especially wars.

And thanks, I'm glad you like it!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Balnazzara In reply to PeterPrime [2014-06-24 01:06:55 +0000 UTC]

I would suggest something xenomorphic in nature, the mechanical nature of your current power house would do well with a biological opponent. Β Maybe stay away from the hive mind insect like creatures to not be a Zerg clone. Β But definitely something different then the mechanical might of your first empire. Or go the other route and do magic or super advanced life forms, something that is not a suit but fully integrated into the machines.

Keep up the good work. Β

PeterPrime In reply to Balnazzara [2014-06-25 18:01:37 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I don't want something like the Zerg or the Tyranids. But it's quite difficult to come up with something unique, when there are so many sci-fi settings now.

And thanks, I will!
