Description
A requiem is a mass in the in the caholic church offered for the repose of the soul of deceased people.
Always in a catholic culture, violet is a common color used in mourning circumstances, while chrysanths are a typical flower brought to the dear ones in the cemetery. White here was moslty intended to make a contrast, but afterall it's a typical mourning color used in asian culture, as far as I know.

Love the interplay of positive space and negative space. Reminds me of Coles Phillips' Fadeaway Girl, but you took that concept even further by using a patterned background. Very cool

Non so come lo usi, a me piace farci le perline decorative, di solito. In questo caso è stato ottimo per fare i petali, in quanto si ingrossa e si restringe quanto più premi.

Is that Aimee and Liacon? Judging by the hairstyles, I would guess so. I like how you use cool colors to evoke a somber feeling. The only thing that seems off is that their hands don't seem to be exactly holding the flowers. Then again, it wouldn't be that hard to hold a flower in place like that without gripping it. I'm really just nitpicking her.

The hands have been a trouble, you caught me, eheh. Especially Laiçon's right hand is incredibly strange. Aimee looks like is playing a flute, on the contrary. The sin I did was to be hurry, since I wanted to finish and to see the result. I don't know you, but if I'm stuck in a drawing problem, my inspiration and my idea fade minute after minute... I didn't want to loose that idea.
By the way, since the whole picture hasn't got elements chosen at random, are violet, black and chrysants representative of mournings?

Dark and cool colors are usually associated with sadness of some form, yes. Coupled with their expressions, the feeling of grief in some form is pretty clear. As for the flowers, sources vary on what they mean, but yes, in many cultures, they generally represent mourning. Oddly enough though, in my country, they represent positive feelings, haha.
