I love the feeling this shot gives me...and with your artist comment...it makes even that much more terrifying...in a good way that is. You see...I love telling my models stories before I take pictures of them...I actually tell them the night before so it can linger in their mind...become apart of them...you pull this off great in your shot though...because the imagination works wonders...it scares me to look up and see what has happened to the rest of her body...what she must be going thru and wether she is enjoying it or not...the way her feet are tilting upward almost give up a slight struggle...anways...

Good god, you did that with a Holga? I always thought Holga's took photos so blurry and out of focus that they were considered an art form in themselves? This one seems far too focused for such a cheap little camera.
The idea of working in medium format's always appealed to me, though. A few years ago I bought a russian bootleg of a HAsselblad, a Kiev 66. But the quality of it was so bad that it ceased functioning after a single shot was taken, ended up selling it for parts. Every now and then I think about getting back into it, maybe buying a Pentacon 6 or a Mamiya 645, but the cost has always been a problem for me.
Still, this is a great shot. Almost erotic with the way the feet are bound, suggestive but not cheap or crude.

LOL...I have to admit my latest Holga has a rather sharp lens...my brother is afraid the company may actually be taking their construction seriously now and trying to make them "better"-- wouldn't that be a shame?
Medium format is definitely fun, but still so expensive...though my brother and I use a couple of old YashicaMat 124 TLRs -- they're a bit limited in terms of focal length and portablitlity, but they take great, sharp images when you use them right...and they're dirt cheap on ebay -- usually well under $200.00 -- I've never heard a good thing about those Kievs -- the Lomohome site is trying to sell a bunch right now, but we're having none of it here...

Yeah, Kiev cameras are bone, so I don't bother with them anymore. Kind of nice to think that Holga's trying to take itself seriously now.
There are cheaper medium formats out there, though. I think you can get a Lubitel TLR camera on ebay for something like twenty five dollars.

The LomoHome site was offering Lubitels for a day or so last week...they looked interesting, but a little pricey compared to the Holga...I may look into getting one later though, if they're still around. We recently accquired an old Spartus from the 1950s that we've been having some fun with!

I would suggest checking out eBay. You can get a good, new Lubitel there for less then thirty dollars. I was always impressed with the quality of glass on those Russian Medium format cameras, even if the internal mechanisms were put together by a blind, one handed special olympian.

i've actually looked at a couple of Ebay Lubitel auctions...but I hate to say I'm a little loath to try buying a camera all the way from the Ukraine, even if it is only 20 dollars...I'm sure my curiousity will get the best of me eventually though!
