Description

I will dedicate this work to Luke, who truly and from his heart gives me so much of his time, and to let me have a different look at my work. THANK YOU Luke and I hope that this work makes you a little proud too……….draaket.deviantart.com/

The feeling that I am learning so much, makes me so happy….

In the world that we are living today, it is so easy through all the technology that our children will lose touch with nature and with their own creativity.

In my magical childhood moments I was simply playing with a stick in the mud and chasing dandelion seeds through an open paddock.

The background photo was taken by me in a beautiful park called “ The Efteling ”.

Going over this bridge we entered “Panda Dream “. The movie Dream of the Panda takes the visitors to the North Pole, ocean and jungle which are, according to the movie, all in the gravest of dangers.

The movie was made by Movetrix NWave and has special simulation effects like moving seats, splashing water, blowing wind and a 1000 kg tree branch that falls into the audience.

I truly hope that all the children in the world will get inspired by all these educational films.

very very good! I can see well ur effort and i see the difference with  ur previous works because u controlled contrast more good and the final work is beautiful.

These works need only a lot of practice!

If u pay attention, all global work + or - have a good sharp look......but the only thing with a strong blur is the crow and for this reason u can see the little problem on it.

You have a good eye for design. This crow has been my trouble and this was after I have flattened the file and continued for a long time to get colors right. Then at the end I noticed the crow, however ..........too late!!

I am beginning to understand what to look for, at least it is a start and as you said before, it all takes time and practice.
I also wonder why you do not receive my responds, because I always do reply.....

Thank you so much Luke

when u are creating, try to stop completely yourself, leave the mouse alone and start to watch each single thing alone and then in relation to other nearby things and then view the entire global scene. This is important to see difference.
Another important trick is the use of zoom in and zoom out......some years agoo a real professional retoucher with 20 years of experience on his back teached me this important thing....
If you watch the work zooming in and zooming out, you'll see more mistakes above all tonal differences....If the work in zoom in is ok and if the work in zoom out is ok..u are sure the work is ok...but if the work, for example in zoom-in got a problem.....the work got a problem and it must be fixed! ---> example sta.sh/010tcvlof7yp
This happens because the vision is more focused on global work and so u can see more things!
No one explain these advanced things on tutorials....all common tutorials are + or - all copied from others people and for this reason the most of time no one explain why something happens but most important thing, no one explain the concept back! Ohhhhh this the problem.....people spend hours to learn how work a pen tool, but don't thing that there are a lot of important concept back.

Into my gallery i don't do tutorial step by step because im not interested and because there are a lot of people that do that....but for me are more powerful the concepts.....without concept u cant create complex or good works!! Concepts like these ----> sta.sh/06szj5aha0f or sta.sh/026a426v8f0j (distance, composition, lightning etcc..)

Start to rasterize object only when u are near to the end of the work....so u'll able to fix mistakes! for this reason i use smart object and i rasterize them (i rasterize them because they drain memory) only
when im completely sure that it is ok at 90%-95%!
For example my last work, is giant.....but the size of the Psd is 253 mb..this because + or - at the end i start to erase mask, rasterize etcc...i leave activated only mainly things. All this is important!
Sometimes in some work i read: "my psd is big 3 gigabyte....or i got 300 levels" i watch the work and i see 2 objects!  wooow...there is a problem! They thing saying that is a good thing!! but it's bad and wrong!! Of course optimization of the work coming out with the experience.
I can do complex work with multiple resources only and exclusive because im able to optimize the space for this reason i can use 60 or 100 resources but keeping a low size....low size but with an excellent quality

this is all question of practice!

Oh yes pay attention to click always that button reply!

You know we have one thing in common and that is that we are both self taught artists, with this difference: I never took it serious and that means that  I always struggle with the designs I make. However being a perfectionist, I am never satisfied with what I create. On the positive side, because I am a very positive woman, all of a sudden I start to understand what it all is about and that also means a lot of practice, because I will not have a perfect design for a while. That is ok, because I am learning. My joy for designing is growing by the day......

I was amazed by the way you look at pictures, MONA LISA, for light on her face etc. Your jungle work is amazing and about half a year ago I started this complex work, something in the same color scheme as you jungle work........I threw it on the side many times........ and picked it up many times.......Well it's back on my screen again, because it is for the book and I am restricted to most of my own pictures, which are good for the story of the book. I will study your work more closely and try my very, very best to make something of it..
I don't know how to show this work to you in STASH and also because it is far from finished......

I also see that you do your work in Adobe RGB 1998, the same as my camera settings, however i do my work in photoshop in sRGB IEC61966-2.1.
Would you be able to explain what the difference this makes in colors.....

Your files are so huge because you work in 16 bit and that is good. I still do my work in 8 bit, don't know why, never thought about it really.

I save all your information and read it over and over again, thank you so much Luke, it means a lot to me xoxoxoxoxoxoxox

DraakeT In reply to petronellavanree [2014-09-04 17:16:12 +0000 UTC]

don't worry about all this talk of tecnic (time to time)....the important is the pure fun creating....but in any case u are doing great visible steps forward like in ur last work! U know is impossible learn all in 1 day

About Adobe Rgb 1998 -----> watch the youtube video in 1080 -----> www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVkjaU…

Working on 16 bit is less destructive....but there is real difference between 8 bit and 16 bit? The answer is yes....when u apply for example some adjustment layer like for example curves or levels in 8 bit, u'll lose a lot of pixel of the image and so the quality will be low.

and I save always all in PNG.......using JPG u loss quality because it's a compressed format

It is my biggest wish to learn how to do it good and that will still take some time. I just love to work with photo's...You know everything about that too. You are soooo good!
I love that Luke is so honest and how he explains everything in so much detail, that all of a sudden I can see a little light in the distance.
Hopefully there will be enough time for me to practice. Not sure if I can get that book finished in time. I take it as it comes and otherwise we have to bring it to Holland next year.
Thank you so much Ingeborg
