As cool as this guy was of a final boss I kinda hated that its existence negated the shearwig and watery blowhog from even being in the storymode because Forbidden Oak is the only place they spawn and they are not just this fella's illusions.

I feel that. After playing Pikmin 2 this game felt just way too short and sparse in comparison, and it doesn't feel like much of what appeared got used to its full potential.
(Though I personally headcanon that the Plasm Wraith was parasitizing these creatures and absorbing them after death, rather than mimicking them outright. I have absolutely nothing to back that up, it just feels neat and spooky.)
