Description
The guys in this picture are not so cute as the girls in the previous. Actually they ere quite happy as they are. On the other hand, the dog-like creature is upset. It may need some hugs.Related content

You've got such an unusual style. I love it.

Thank you! Originality is not always appreciated in this industry...

The colors you used for their clothes remind me of the really old Warhammer, when Orcs were still colored like this instead of in mostly earthy tones.
It's great mostly because of this totally unique look.

Thank you for your kind words. Actually these orcs are working as mercenaries for a human kingdom in this pictureΒ΄s story background. They got human-like costumes and weapons through the long time they had served...

Makes sense. In the very old Warhammer lore orcs would never create anything, but instead use the clothes and armor of their enemies to create makeshift attire for themselves.
I figured it was something like that. ^_^

I discovered Warhammer stuff in 1999, so I missed that part of the story. I like the Warhammer background a lot (on those days painting miniatures became a vice I had to say to myself: DRAW SOMETHING! Ah. Collecting minis...

Oh yes... expensive, time and space consuming, incredibly finicky and just a huge waste of actual time...
...ain't it great?
I myself have so many miniatures, painted and not painted flying around, if I would find the time, I had enough material for years to come.
PS: Thanks for watching. ^_^

I usually paint a couple of figures while watching night tv series. This way I donΒ΄t feel guilty to waste precious work hours in hobby stuff. ItΒ΄s relaxing
At this time I collect Rackham metals, while they are still available. I like Warhammer very much, but those Confrontation figures are realy really cool...

Agreed, Rackham makes or made some really great miniatures, exceedingly superior in quality to most others.
However my heart is also always attached to the huge selection at Reaper. Any miniature-company that can supply pretty much every possible version of Heroes or Villains deserves a mention. ^_^

I like Reaper too. Sandra Garrity rules!
Her womenΒ΄s faces are incredible, donΒ΄t you think?

Yes, the other main-sculptor... Klocke(?) crafts some outrageously great weapons though.
Still, the french designers at Rackham make such hauntingly gorgeous faces... The entire row o Daikenee Elves (probably mis-spelled) is just gorgeous, in a very alien way, the way I like elves the best.

Werner Klocke rocks too. His dynamic poses are so cool. I also like his Freebooter minis, specially the steampunk fairies.
I agree with you that Daikinee Elves are quite nice (I have to paint my Maneos Scarab Warrior). But Cynwall elves are not my faves. Not so elvish -constructs, strange armor- but the dragon is great...

I usually have the most fun painting Wolfen... the scale, the amount of naked-body space for tattoos and tribals, the crude but super-stylish weapons... plus I like drybrushing fur.
The only thing I can't do is look at the way they are painted by Rackham themselves... that makes me feel like an amateur, I can never get that no-metal technique down.

Ah the Wolfen. I repainted som Pre-painted plastic ones. Not so nice as the metals, but I liked them tough.
And those Rackham painters are crazy. Perhaps they were captive in a dungeon, and denied food until delivering a top quality painted mini... (lol)

Well possible, nothing going in but sandwiches and Vallejo-paints through tiny holes in the wall.
But hey, if you compare yourself to the best... I suppose you always come up short. I'd rather compare myself to nobody, it usually ends up better for myself, hehe.

You are right. Never compare yourself to the best, as it causes stress and takes the fun out of it. Enjoy fully what you do (yes, this is Zen-like stuff) and the result always will be better than when you struggle.
