Final Fantasy VII is my favorite game of all time, which I played in the summer of ‘98. I had a Pentium 200MHz, no 3D card, and ran the game at the crispest of resolutions (320x240), while navigating Cloud through the world using my keyboard’s numpad (“0” was cancel?). I was volunteering everyday at the hospital that summer, but all I could think about was getting home to play. 22 years later, the remake has surpassed all my expectations. Each character was given extra depth, Midgar was beautifully recreated, the soundtrack was amazing, and the storyline as good as ever, with a few twists added. Even after beating the game, I kinda wish I hadn’t, just so I could continue playing.
