Description
The dance store near where I live did this contest where they gave you a pair of pointe shoes to design, and if your design was the prettiest/best you'd get a $50 gift card to their store. I have always wanted to do this, so it was a win-win situation. xDThe only bad thing was the time crunch to finish them. o.O
If I had more time there would be a buttload more beading on them, but yeah...Here's the process:
-Dyed the shoes blue with spray-on fabric dye (worked so amazingly well. I was surprised!)
-Sprayed adhesive glue on and then sprinkled on coppery-tinted glitter on them (you can't probably tell that they sparkle, but oh, they do!)
-Sprayed adhesive glue on box of shoe/feather and attached feather, then had to glue the feather on again with Elmer's. D= Would not stay on the shoe.
-Embroidered beading on back of shoe, etc. I tried to embroider the box, but that is impossible. *dies* I had to glue some of the beads on the box because my hands were hurting so bad.
-Sewed gold sheer ribbons on for lacing up (even though these shoes are -not- for wearing)
-Sewed/glued rest of ribbon on the inside of the shoe to cover minor thread from embroidery
And voila, a peacock pointe shoe. If I don't win I'm totally putting these up in my room with all my other peacock-related things. xD

What brand do you use?
I have Grishko Pro and Grishko ProFlex (omg.. leather shanks... *heaven* lol, but they wear out so fast, and I only use them for performing, cause they make you lazy

Normally I wear Grishko as well, because I have insanely narrow feet. I love them, but mine do wear out quickly.
These ones are Capezios, which is what the store stocked most frequently so I guess that's what they were able to give away for the contest.

Yeah, I have a pair of ProFlex's, but they wear out quickly, I wear my Pro's mostly. The ProFelx's are just easier for performing cause they have a lovely leather shank

Naw, I didn't win, sadly. The winner did some pretty crazy stuff to them, she cut them into tulip flowers...which is cool and all, but I was thinking for some reason that they should be shoes one could potentially wear.

I have 2 extra pair that I'll hopefully have time to decorate this summer.
I've been dancing since I was 3, so about 15 years.
But recently I've kind of stopped doing most ballet stuff and I've been doing more tap and ballroom now.

I dunno...there's a world of wrong with my feet already. xD But I have to clip my nails anyways for comfort- they feel awful when I go up on pointe with long nails. D=
