Raw concept layouts for the Stormshadow's Command Deck.

I had been toying with vague ideas for how the Command Deck of the ship would be — ranging from vast open bridge designs in a similar vein as a Star Destroyer's , to tight, intimate cockpits like a real-world airliner — but had never really tried to test any on paper. I was never quite enthused by the notion of the former: too impersonal. And the latter would be hard to justify as the sole control center for a 200m ship, but it felt closer to correct.

The idea of combining the aspects of bridge and cockpit was not new to me, to strike a middle ground with the best of both types, but it was not an easy combination to imagine.

Then I was struck by an idea: the concept layout in red, above; which led to the larger, somewhat more refined, sketch.

Feeling that I might have found the solution I was seeking, I was eager to test it at proper scale, so this became the basis for a proper digital schematic.
