sorry to ask, but how do you 'randomize' your starter?

Well, first off you need to download a Gameboy/DS emulator and one of the games to your computer (I don't recall where to get the emulator, but all the games up until White 2 should be on coolrom.com). When you have the emulator and game, you can download another program called "the universal randomizer" (at least that's the one I think is the better one), which should allow you to open the game file and then change a lot of content. Most of the randomized nuzlockes, if you've seen any of them floating around, should be made this way.
You can pick custom or random starters, scramble the wild pokemon you meet, so instead of fighting a level 2 Zigzagoon in Ruby for example, you might end up fighting level 2 Ho-oh, and have to pick between Seel, Tyranitar and Magikarp as your starter. You can also randomize moves and types, so the Tyranitar might end up knowing completely ridiculous moves and be a Ghost/Fire type or something.
It can also fix trade evolutions, so you can do them by yourself, since there's no functioning trade on the computer version.
