Description
[Phantom]YAY, more phanart! This one's a little earlier in my "schedule" since it's for a contest in a POTO group. It is, as the title suggests, a gender-bent Erik from Gaston Leroux's Phantom of the Opera! I tried to keep her completely Leroux themed with a gloomy and dark sort of tone. I can kind of see "Erika" (i guess) in an almost Tim Burton-esque kinda of victorian getup.
Anyway, this is a reference to a scene in the book where poor Erik is trying to distract Christine from fretting over Raoul as he is in the torture chamber.
(Note: shortened for convenience)
"'I want a wife whom I could love and take out on Sundays and keep amused on week-days.... Here, shall I show you some card tricks? That will help us pass a few minutes, while waiting for eleven o'clock to-morrow evening.... But you would have lots of fun with me. For instance I am the greatest ventriloquist that ever lived, I am the first ventriloquist in the world!... You're laughing.... Perhaps you don't believe me? Listen'"
I can see how childishly Erik would be trying to draw away her attention and tried to capture it here, in female form of course.

I am loving the dress! Can you imagine what a cute doll she would make?

I love the scene you chose and the frilly, doll-like look you gave CrazyLady!Erik.

This is awesome! And I can totally see "Erika" in a Burton-esque costume
This is one of the best gender benders I have ever seen because of the macabre and gloomy feeling to it.

PS: Thanks for including the passage from Leroux! It helps to relate the drawing to the scene.

Why thank you ^-^ Im glad the gloominess is appreciated.
It's one of my favorite passages cause I can visualize Erik so perfectly there, even though Leroux uses mostly just paragraphs of dialogue. X3
