Well unlike Marvel's Man Spider, Willy here ain't a mindless monster and is a kind person. It's just that he's skittish around people since he knows that he looks like an arachnophobe's worst nightmare, even though he doesn't want to be seen that way. And unlike other Spidersonas, he can't exactly have a secret identity so in places outside of his own city he has to stay out of sight when he isn't crime-fighting.
