Description
This is a very rare moment of Lucy displaying some serious aggression. Taken sometime last summer, the horse she was after is Brimstone. I never put it up before because, well, it's kinda scary. This is I think one of the only shots I have of Lucy being aggressive. Usually, she's the lowest on the totem pole, everybody can boss her around. Except Brimstone.Although this shot is interesting to me because equine behavior fascinates me.

Seriously, this could win some contests. It's PERFECTLY framed a nd lit, clear, and shows a really unseen side of domestic horses. This is an incredible, incredible photograph. Next time I do a journal feature, this is going in it!!

At first I didn't even realize this was Lucy until I read your description! But you're right, equine behavior is fascinating!

Oh wow... for usually being docile she has quite the bad side. Brimstone must be older... maybe? Or shows a sign of weakness so Lucy might just be trying to go up in rankings.

Brimstone is about 25 and has cushings disease, along with several melanomas, so she didn't really have the energy to fight back.
Lucy doesn't really try to go up in rankings, except for in this situation. She's so easygoing she's normally has a "whatever" kind of attitude. When she was in a paddock with Midnight over the winter, she didn't challenge him, she just ignored him completely. Which made him mad. He does not like to be ignored XD

Ah that might be it. I know a older mare who has been picked on more and more by lower ranking members because her age.
