 same. I'm going to keep from posting specific spoilers for those who haven't yet... 

But man, that story... the twists left me reeling for hours, and I'd say it's even better than Explorers of Darkness, IMHO.

I liked it a lot, for sure, but I dont think it surpassed Explorers for me. 
The twist did catch me off guard tho, and boy did it suck(in the best way)

all the twists were like that for me, and I loved the whole "hindsight is 20/20" aspect of the plot twists, where, Yes, there were signs of the plot twists, but you wouldn't see them as signs of said plot twists until AFTER the twist happened.

Very good storytelling. and yet people with their nostalgia glasses still say Explorers of Sky was better. 

IMO, the worst PMD games will easily be the WiiWare ones that never made it out of Japan. 

The plot revolves around a cookie shortage in those ones. I kid you not.

I dunno, I like Explorers more, because I was more attached to the characters than Ive ever been for any other pmd. Except Gengar from Rescue Team. But I mean, that's neither here nor there.
Explorers did a better job of kicking me in the feels throughout the entirety of the plot, lol
But super PMD is still a close second. Even though they took out axew and didnt re-add skitty as a starter >3>;;;

I didn't get the feels for explorers of Darkness's main story as much, or, at least, maybe it didn't impact me as hard as it should have, possibly due to the storyline being partially spoiled for me. 

But I went into Super Mystery Dungeon completely unspoiled, and holy crap, that was a heck of a ride for me.

Yeah, I always go into pmd games unspoiled, because i want to get slammed with everything the game has to throw at me, lol.

but yeah, explorer's plot is best experienced blind.

Yeah, well, part of it could have been that I was on a different ADHD medication at the time, and my emotions might've been a bit muted back then... and part of my feels could have been from the fact that I named my Cyndaquil partner after a Cyndaquil character I have (Who I recently redesigned into a separate species of my own creation~)

But hey, sometimes even being spoiled by a plot twist somewhat beforehand doesn't ruin your reaction to what actually happened. 

For example: I read about the fact that Midna kills Zant in a strategy guide for Twilight Princess YEARS before I actually was able to play up to that point in the game... and my Let's Play recordings got my reaction to actually SEEING it happen for the very first time: youtu.be/Uq9xVptUUZ8?t=17m47s
