Description
For Halloween 2012, I wanted to do something I'd never done before, so I created this beast. It's the alien from the movie Attack The Block. If you haven't seen it, stop reading this and go watch it now! It's an awesome movie with one of the most creative and unique aliens I've seen in years. I'm just glad I got the chance to bring him to life! For the record, this is a work in progress. Halloween was not its final debut, and I still have many changes to make to it, especially after wandering around downtown Knoxville in it for a couple of hours. I hope to have it out at Dragon*Con 2013 though!

Awesome work.Β My son is determined to do this for this Halloween.Β Did you make the acrylic mold yourself or have someone do it and what was the turnaround time?Β Thanks!

Thanks! This creature has definitely been put through his paces and is about ready for an upgrade, actually. You can see some more of him in action here: www.flickr.com/photos/danandhoβ¦
As far as construction goes, I made the entire suit myself, and for the teeth I used a clear resin you can find at Hobby Lobby, actually. I started with a clay mold, coated it in silicone, and then cast the resin. The whole suit took me well over 2 months to make, and the teeth alone took around 2 weeks because of how long it took the resin to harden... not to mention the soldering I had to do for the LED's and mounting the whole thing into the head.
That said, I'm not trying to discourage your son from doing this. On the contrary, I'd encourage him to go for it! Even if he doesn't get it done in time for Halloween, it's still a cosplay character he can use throughout the year.Β

Wow! That's fantastic! I really like the teeth. They're spot on! You've done a much better job on making the mouth move as well. Keep up the good work!Β

I got some good reactions from people walking down the street not paying attention... and, as you can imagine, many were impressed by the level of intricacy and detail. Truth be told though, this was very cumbersome to wear, and I'm looking forward to fixing a lot of its flaws this year.Β

Thanks! I'd love to help. The easiest advice I can give you is to check out The Quad & Fursuiting group here on DA. Most of my notes are buried in old files and under fur at this point. Beyond that, I'm going to be doing some much-needed updates to this character this year, so stay tuned! I hope to have more details and updates soon.Β

That is awesome, I love that film. You need to find a Moses cosplayer to wander around with.

I will never understand why I have been unable to find a single Moses cosplayer to date. This film is under-appreciated.

AGREED! This has to be one of my favorite sci-fi films in recent years, too... I'll see if I can't talk a friend into being Moses at some point soon.

[link] and this design has been out for about 6 years! unique my ass!

I suspect that the makers of this film do not watch Ben 10. You'd be surprised how often this sort of thing happens...
