An art deco impressionist fusion, this is the first of a three-part set (more to come!) inspired by a recent trip to Paris with my wife. We saw some breathtaking art while we were there from an incredible range of painters and sculptors. I was enamored. The entire city is a canvas.

This first go pays homage to and borrows from a few things. The varied textured layers were inspired by this children’s book we saw one day at a book store along the Canal Saint-Martin. The overall look is an interpretive take on this deco piece I came across awhile back. I also got to see a ton of Van Gogh’s works along with other impressionists at the Musée d’Orsay to which the title and two of this project’s most defining swatches pay homage. Ron’s hair is comprised of brush strokes from Van Gogh’s Self-Portrait with Straw Hat. Kim’s dress represents his Starry Night Over the Rhône . Apparently, “Starry Night” is a common title for many works. Aside from Van Gogh’s most well known Starry Night , I saw at least two other pieces by the same name that other artists had created displayed in d’Orsay that same day, hence my title, “Another Starry Night”.
