Description From this sketchdump: [link]
I don't have that many brightly colored characters, so I realized it would be a shame not to color some of the Naught sketches.

This is Naught (c) to me.

It means everything.
All at once.
It means it has BLOWN YOUR MIND!

Ha! Wow, I'm glad you did color these!
Is it fun drawing him contorting, or extremely challenging? Or both, perhaps?
I really love those piercings in his mask, I noticed those in the sketches and they really appeal to me.

I am too, his colors are on the verge of being a human version of a sparkledog, but they're so fun to work with that I can't feel guilty.

And yeah, something of both. When drawing a normal person, if you mess up on one arm being a bit longer than the other, or a leg having the knee lower- whatever, if you make little mistakes, it's not very noticeable. There's very little true symmetry in the world so your mind autocorrects most of it anyhow. But, for some reason, when you make any little mistake like that in a contortionist position it becomes glaringly obvious. There's also the problem of the limbs looking broken if you make too many mistakes. It means that there were a lot of ditched sketches of him that I made.... but with that being said, contortionists are probably one of my top favorite things to draw. It's like everything I love about muscles but exaggerated, it provides enough of a challenge for it to be fun without it being tedious. Drawing contortionists also gives you such an understanding of how the human body works, and I can transfer that knowledge so easily to normal characters.

Something funny on the subject is a few days ago, this was a daily deviation. [link] It's very lovely.... but it's not contortion. Look at the belly button, make a note of how much space is between it and the groin area, and then realize how high up her buttocks is on her back. It's a very lovely picture so it's still in my favorites, but I'd bet all my money that that's either two people or a photo-manipulation.

And I'm also really glad you noticed those. The idea came from a mask I once made, [link] where for whatever reason I nailed holes below the eyes and hung chains from it. Naught's about the only character who could use that design without it being out of character.
