Description Chapter 2

I woke up in the morning unusually early and stretched quickly. I grabbed the book, which until now I hadn't realised that it didn't have a title, and raced downstairs, prepared to go straight out to the library. Just before my hand could touch the metal of the door handle, my mother walked into the room. "And where do you think you're going?" she asked, her tone clearly reminding me – no leaving the house without telling her. "The library – I have to return a book!" I answered. She looked at me, her beautiful eyes burning into mine. "Were you going to tell me? And how about breakfast?" she replied. Oh – and rule number two, never miss any meals, especially breakfast. So, I nodded and munched down some cereal in the kitchen with her. "Why so early? It's not like you, Iris." she suddenly asked. I swallowed a mouthful of Crunchy Nut and looked at her. "Not quite sure myself, but I found some rips in the book, and Ms Anette would probably want to know."
"Ahhh … rips in a book? I think that's a first! You're always off to the library – one day it's because of this, the next day because of that." Mother said. I nodded because I was half listening. Then I picked up the book, hugged my mum, and left.
When I got to the library, it was already full (or as full as that library ever gets), people strolling casually through the shelves. I stopped to take a breath because it can be tiring to walk here from home. Next I pushed the doors open and began my search for Ms Anette. I saw people I had and hadn't seen before – a tall blonde woman, a little kid giggling, an extremely busy looking man, and my cousin Harry. Walking straight past each one of them, I continued, looking for Ms Anette's short legs, kind smile, and colourful dress. Eventually I saw her, with a red and white polka-dot dress (yesterday it was a navy blue with flowers, in case you're wondering) that matched her headband.
"Ms Anette! Could I speak with you about the book?" I shouted. Her eyes lit up in excitement and she seemed so speechless as she happily nodded. "There are some … rips in the paper. I swear I didn't-" I started. Ms Anette didn't let me finish with her interruption, "No worry, dear. You have found the solution!" I was thinking, what? Then even stranger, she pulled the book from my hands and opened in enthusiastically. Ms Anette did something next that was truly unbelievable! I watched as she made a huge rip in the first page, and raced of in her black high heels.
