My entry for Losmios's contest... [link]I have to admit that even though I've worked really hard (Stillcloud, Bane and Dare must be the toughest chars I've ever had to draw- at least so far) I am not satisfied at all... maybe it's because a day before submitting it and while still working on it I saw Katy (Rewston)'s entry... and I thought, God, wtf am I doing here, look at these talented people... Who am I kidding, heh. Then I was reminded that the point of this was making something nice for Losmios, and well, in that respect at least I think it's acceptable. There you go, honey... Yeah, I know I suck at backgrounds, I have zero experience with them *sighs* That thing Still is shying from/attacking/rearing at is supposed to be the shadow of a gryphon. Long story...
Thank Katy and SwordchildPlaid for supporting and convincing me that it was worth finishing this...

Except the more colorful ones are my characters, and this one is Losmios's... but yes, it was a change. As for the pose I was trying to come up with something that would not be done for the rest don't-know-how-many-hundred that entered the contest and I came up with this... Thanks for commenting

It is, it's refreshing. The contest was an old one, of course I didn't win because there were tons of people entering that were seriously more talented... but contests, art trades, requests, they all make me push for something better every time. So it's good for the practice, but I still can't help feeling a little down for never winning in any

yeah, it's hard going against tons of other artists. i enter in a fair every year for the art contest, and i'm going against all sorts of local artists who are definitely WAY better than i am. but in looking at the judges' picks and opinions, i get a sense of what they're looking for. it's all a learning experience. though i must admit, the last year's best in show pic was horrible. i'm not saying mine was any better by a long shot, but there were much better paintings than the one they chose. anyways. it's never fun not winning, but like you said, it's good practice.

Oooh, Fantastic and utterly breath-taking Justice! Stillcloud is a tough character to draw and color, i agree. Even though i've never attempted it...all those intricate lines and the dappling @_@! I'm in AWE of you that you attempted him! Great job and Good luck in the contest! Everything looks great!

I agree with los, Justice! This is a great entry! The background really makes him stand out, and I especially like the legs and the pose, which is done fantastically from such an angle.
