Movie Kovu vs My Kovu. Man, I never realized just how bad his colors until now. Ew.
My Kovu is much darker and brown, less red, he has the ear rings from his cub design, and lighter eyes to match his grandfather Choto and uncle Mkali. Yes in my verse Kovu and Vitani are Zira's biological children, though they aren't Scars. Scar never even saw them. They were, in fact, born not long before Kiara.

EDIT: Tweaked Kovu's main pelt color. It's just a tiny bit lighter and tiny bit more red. I like it much better, even if it's not a huge difference.
EDIT2: Tweaked his underpelt color so it's less tan/goldish
