Three scans stitched together because this thing's kinda big.Deshwitat, from "Rebirth," easily one of the best vampires to ever exist. He doesn't actually have bat wings or anything like that, I just thought it would look cool. His clothes are a mishmash of different things he ends up wearing throughout the manhwa. Such a grumpy death machine.
Why is this so bad. Ugh. Something in my head shuts down when I try to draw things for others and makes everything turn out bad. XD Composition? What composition? >(

Tokyopop went out of business so they aren't publishing anymore in English. I have translated the last volumes from German so if you bought the last books in German, I do have a translation document you could follow along with if you wanted.

No, see, that's the point. You special order it from Germany like I did and then you can read it by following along with my translation. It's actually pretty cheap if you special order through the International Book Import Service (IBIS). [link]

This... This is just phenomenal. I'm so speechless. I've come back to this drawing about four times today, thinking, "Man, I really need to comment on this!" I'm afraid the comment might turn out so long, though, that dA would crash. >.> I'll, eh, try to keep it short, I suppose. XD
I really like the composition of this drawing, actually. The flow of the bats makes the observer's eye follow from the top of the canvas down to the bottom, passing through that especially amazing personage with sexy hair and beautifully flowy clothing... Hurrhurrhurr. I especially like the fact that his wing doesn't appear to actually be attached to him--it's more like he's holding it, like a cloak. I see a hint of the traditional vampire pose coming into play. :3 *whips cape over face*
I also love the reds in this painting. The orb at the top is a great focal point, for sure, but the reds in his clothing and the little drip at the bottom of the paper compliment each other nicely.
I haven't a clue who Deshwitat is, but I think I've just found my new favorite piece of artwork from you.
Also, your "bad" drawings are significantly more interesting than my good ones. You probably hear that a lot... However, I don't speak anything but the truth. =3

Thanks. I dunno. I'm still iffy with this composition. XD The composition itself is actually inspired by the "Dead Promises" song by the Rasmus. The whole hide from the sun and everything. It didn't really turn out quite the way I wanted though.
You need to know who Deshwitat is! Read the manhwa "Rebirth" it's excellent. A true vampire story. I think it's my favourite graphic novel of all time. And that's saying a lot.

Ah, I love the Rasmus! They've been my favorite band for probably a good six months now. 
I think, in the art world, artists have to be more patient with themselves than anything. How often do you have a piece of artwork that turns out exactly the way you imagined it would? Well, maybe that happens a lot for you. I don't know. ^^ Even if it's not exactly how you wanted, we little amateurs can't see into your head and compare the finished piece with what you were thinking of. In short, THIS IS AMAZING. Whether or not you're pleased with it.
*looks up Rebirth* Wait a moment... I think I've seen this manga before. The first volume was at the Fun Unlimited store for like four bucks! I came so close to buying it, and yet... Ah, darn. I'll have to check for it again when I head back to the mall. (SINCE BORDERS IS CLOSED ASDKFJLGLKJF)

Yay! Don't forget, and definitely check it out. You can also get it on Amazon for pretty cheap too if you buy it used. Right now they have some used for $0.01, and then you have the $3.99 shipping, so that's a pretty good deal too.

Obviously this is something I should read. I have only read one Manhwa before...enjoyed it thoroughly and would frequently re-read it until my house burned. Now i only have the last two volumes of it. "Model" Was what it was called. Another vampire story...with artists! Either way, i really love the over all composition of this piece. The vertical everything just really appeals to me. Especially the big bad @$$ bat wing! This has everything you are awesome at in it! Flowy fabric, shadowing and a handsome vampire man!

You should read Model if you get the chance. I think one of the most appealing things about the books was the art style of it. It's called model and the characters are all drawn very long and elegant and you imagine pretty tall. Like models! It has a double reason to be called model. XD

Aahaha, it's pretty funny, but Georgia really doesn't have many peaches at all. You have to go to Florida, Tennessee or North Carolina for them. XD
Plus, it's four months of continually humid 95+ weather. In addition... there seems to be only two kinds of people down here. The racist sexist people and the really really nice people. Sadly, the first category outnumbers the second.
I know I shouldn't get political really, but Georgia is also unwaveringly Republican. And they kinda, just keelhauled my scholarship money and the scholarship money of about half the students in the state. Georgia places second to last in education in America too. :/ I could tell you the percentile of those who actually graduate high school, but it's just too sad. ;_;
Oh, and Atlanta is one of the top child-(sex)slavery trafficking cities in the U.S.
What's wrong with Georgia? Lots of stuff.

I think you would enjoy Mass quite a bit then. I may be sheltered to a lot of horrible things but, I love this state. The weather is never unbearable, The fall is gorgeous and colorful and the winters are wonderfully cold and snowy! I also can't help but notice there's a ton of state protected parks and beaches in my area. It's awesome.

I'm sure I would too. I'm a big time cold weather person and not really a long swelteringly hot summer person. I do live directly on a national park so I do have that much comfort though. But really, the north is definitely where I'd like to be.

1. Props for drawing a real vampire, not one of those sparkly things that hang around.
2. Those bats are worthy of Batman himself, and that is a compliment.

Thanks! I got a little bit tired of pencilling and then inking all those bats. And trying to get them all to have different poses.. XD I think I should have focused on correct anatomy though. Ah well.
I tried to make the style a bit more like the manhwa rather than mine. XD But granted, Rebirth is the single biggest influence of my style.

Well, personally I think this looks brilliant, composition included. I like the reflections of the red moon, and the drops of blood...and the bats materializing from random parts of him. Awesome.
And yeah, the wing thing is cool. Very cool.

I like the wing, but there is no semblance of anatomy to be found. XD

Aw, I'm sure his legs are ok...maybe he's doing that Alucard-y shapeshift thing and his legs were the first thing to turn into bats? XD He's a very old and powerful vampire, so I imagine he'd be able to do stuff like that...
