I've come to understand it as a sort of extra. In manga, and omake is an extra short (usually) funny spoof type story. in the cosplay world I've come to understand it as a behind the scenes photo.

Ah, okay! xDDD I thought it might mean "funny shot/moment" but it seems that the two aren't orthogonal. Given my experience with things that I shall now identify as omake, I like them. xDDD
