The Red Scarf

Another winter was about to start. The air was getting colder in Tokyo - and a few snowflakes fell down to the ground. Conan and Ai were walking home together. Since it wasn't that cold in the morning, Haibara started freezing and a bit trembling.

"Oi Haibara, are you freezing? You should've seen the forecast this morning and you would've known that it'll be snowing later today."
"Thank you so much for caring.", she replied. "But it's okay."
Conan ignored her ironic undertone. "You want my scarf? I don't need it actually."
"No, thanks.", Haibara started walking again. He held her back.
"What?"
Conan had his scarf in his hand and held it out.
"Take it."
"I said no."
"C'mon, take it already, Haibara.", he looked away.
"You need it more than me if you're cold. I don't mind."

Haibara took it away and wrapped it around her neck. "If it makes you happy..." she sighed and walked away.
Thanks, Kudo-kun..., she thought. I won't ever tell you that but this little gesture of kindness means more to me than you think.
She smiled a bit until Conan could catch up to her.
