Description
I was playing Assassin's Creed recently and after watching the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood trailer, it inspired me to draw this pic... this pic is closely based on that one Game Informer ad about the game. The characters drawn are basically from Brotherhood... except one...While most of the characters are from Sam and Max, a number of the characters shown in the pic are from other games or cartoons.
And just for fun, can you figure out who's who in this pic and what kind of Assassin's Creed character they are?
EDIT: Since there wasn't many people guessing who's who in the pic, I'll just list it now...
Center:
Sam is Ezio Auditore
Max is AltaΓ―r
Left side:
(From right to left)
Flint Paper is the Executioner
Harry Moleman is the Priest
Pinkie Pie is the Harlequin
Bosco is the Engineer
Princess Daisy is the Smuggler
Birdo is the Noble
Right side
(From left to right)
Medli is the Doctor (no, I'm not talking about Doctor Who)
Stinky is the Courtesan
Sal is the Blacksmith
Yoshi is the Barber
Fluttershy is the Prowler
I also might draw different variations of this pic such as:
-Mahora's Creed (Negima themed version)
-OC Creed

I could write out an official critique, but I don't think I will for this today (it'd be my first if I did; I feel like critiques are supposed to be "professional" or something). My only advice for today is that actual crossovers should feature different franchises or characters that make sense together. For example, Nintendo's recent cross over of Mario and other Nintendo characters with Dragon Quest characters in a monopoly style game seems like an extremely poor choice to me. A much better cross over might be Sonic the Hedgehog and Megaman because both are blue and fight mad robot-making scientists. Or perhaps Professor Layton and Ace Attorney Pheonix Wright; their character designs clash, but somehow they seem to do well together (I'm guessing due to the nature of both game series to involve them solving puzzles and mysteries and court cases). Or perhaps Ghostbusters mixing with Danny Phantom, Filmation's Ghost Busters, Ghost Whisperer, or just about any other ghost or supernatural themed series or movie franchise. Of course, what I'm talking about is rather vague due to lack of time. What I mean to say is that I dislike your choice only because in that to me it does not make since that these characters be together or that they be in an Assassin's Creed parody. But as a piece of fan art, this is a great piece. Some of the characters - the ponies - are adorable and I rather like how Bosco is eyeballing one of them (I think that's Bosco - and his character design in this I somehow very much like). Although Flint Paper's eyes look weird to a disturbing level, ha ha. And I give you props for bringing in a Legend of Zelda Windwaker character which could be considered an obscure/not very popular character (only because she has not appeared much in pop culture ever since the game originally released). Here's an idea for a good cross over with Sam and Max - choose characters from a series that might compliment each others' personalities and make sense that they run into each other. For example: Sam and Max are anthropomorphic animals from a comedy crime/police/detective genre in a version of New York/Earth in which it would not be entirely strange to find talking anthropomorphic animals. We might could have them bump into the Ninja Turtles, but it might instead be a surprising twist to have them bump into Brandy and Mr. Whiskers from the show by the same name from the Disney Channel. Otherwise having them bump into characters or parodies of characters from detective films and shows might be hilarious. In some cross overs, it seems necessary to use versions of the characters that might be different than their official canon version. For example, Brandy and Mr. Whiskers probably don't live in a world with humans, the Ninja Turtles certainly live in a strange world but not one where talking anthropomorphic animals holding down jobs in New York is normal, and certainly none of the crime/detective/police movie or series characters would be used to such either. But by grounding the cross over in a familiar world it can seem more natural a cross over. I believe that the most satisfying cross over is the one that feels 100% possible and stays just as true to each character's personality, history, and canon. For example, we know that Superman and The Hulk exist at separate comic publishing companies and in separate fictional universes, but some of these superhero cross overs such as this can seem very natural. One I read had Clark Kent/Superman watching the news with Lois Lane about the current activities and unknown whereabouts of the Hulk. Superman then starts talking about how he wished he could have helped Bruce Banner back long ago when they first met, leading into a flash back of when Bruce Banner was originally transformed by the radiation into the Hulk. Superman recalls hearing about the incident and months later running into the Hulk who was accidentally terrorizing a small town out west near his hiding place in a desert cave when the Hulk staggered into a community picnic because he smelled the food and was hungry. Superman recalls them having a fight but how he realized that the Hulk was not intentionally terrorizing the town but was looking for food. Superman extended his help to the creature, not knowing he was the missing scientist Bruce Banner, but the Hulk rejected his help and escaped. The story is brought around circle when, months later, Clark Kent (Superman) and Lois Lane watch the news about the tragic events of Bruce being turned into the Hulk and his current whereabouts being unknown. Clark/Superman finishes reminiscing and wishes Bruce/Hulk well, wherever he is and whatever he's doing. Anyway - oops - got carried away! I guess I wrote this because I've come across - and made myself - a lot of cross overs that don't always make sense and leave a bad taste in my mouth. On second thought, however, I suppose it depends on the quality of the writing, really, as to whether or not the cross over can be pulled off. It came to my attention JediAnnSolo's cross over comic "The AGENCY" which features anthropomorphs that wouldn't normally co-exist or make sense to co-exist or interact with each other, living in a world none of them exist in, and performing within a detective/crime drama genre that is foreign to the original characters and their canon, but the writing is good and she pulls it off wonderfully. So even such as this could actually be quite enjoyable despite my earlier grievances. Not that you're going to turn this into a fan fiction or comic or anything, but I try to imagine what such a cross over would be like.
Now, only one question remains: where did Flint get that Cigar in this time period? lol
