if you look before Fullmetal Alchemist came out at a little known anime called Cardcaptor Sakura you'll see that every time she released a card the magic around her and she had a circle like this under her feet. the circle represents magic not alchemy, the anime fullmetal introduced the circles as science that seemed like magic and we even find out later in that series (spoiler alert) that it was actually the power of life channeled through the gate of souls and it wasn't really science but magic following rules of science.

I do like the blending you did to the background and the body itself, but for some reason the shading of the hair is throwing me off.
