Description
"Melisandre" aka Molly is from a very strange story that involves a woman who almost kills herself on her wedding day, trying to get out of an arranged wedding. She bails at the last moment, lying "at death's door" as it were, barely alive. Death makes a deal with her to restore her to life, if she'll become a loyal ghoul and do his bidding. After 350 years of loyal service to Death, she meets a nice human boy and thinks she might like to settle down. The boy has a hard time swallowing the fact that he has to get Death's permission to take his girlfriend on a date, as Molly tries to decide if she actually wants to become mortal again.Molly stood at the end of the counter, her fingers at her lips as she stared up at the signs and wondered which ice cream to order. Hanson, having already decided his own order, took the moment to note how she fidgeted with her fingers, indecisive and excited. He did not notice the murky black figure that stood in the yard of the little shop, for no one notices Death if he does not wish it. With a cool rush of air and a flick of his wrist, Death undid the ties that kept Molly's human costume tied up around her. In a blink, Hanson saw not her human form, but Molly's actual appearance. Preternaturally gaunt and pale, her features were obscured by inky black tattoos that turned her face into a picture of a skull. Her ears were laden with earrings of bone and metal, and her hair was piled high and woven with blood-red feathers. From each side of her head sprouted antlers of white wood, etched with thousands of tiny black marks. Her summer dress was gone, and instead her body was shrouded from head-to-foot in a dense coat of black fur that piled on the ground around her.
Hanson sucked air into his lungs rather too rapidly, which resulted in a cracked, squeaking noise something like a frightened puppy.
Molly did not notice his distress, having narrowed down her choices to 'pistachio' or 'raspberry' and dedicating all of her mental abilities to deciding between the two.
This is a terrible picture, but this thing is HUGE. Not gonna fit on a scanner :/
Markers and ink on cardboard.
