Don't blame greed or lust
If you don't like who you see
Blame that one who's staring back at you, that one you don't recognize
Because you created that beast willfully
and you see a stranger within those dark eyes
and there's nothing left of who you were
Just past memories and regrets
Scattered across in a constant blur
You sacrifice yourself; but it's never enough
You wonder how you've become this stranger
The day you decided that the blood wasn't worth it anymore
The day your perception became clouded
And you forgot what you were living for
achieving freedom means death to some
but a new world for those yet to come
We built a world for them, we built it in our glory
Their only job being to uphold our story
No one hates history, Just their own
They refuse to let the past die,
and these memories are what condone
This life they've chosen by their own hand
Lonely hearts and scattered thoughts
Add up now like battles fought
We are all our own great depression
Our greatest disappointments we find in ourselves
We refuse to strive for more, we refuse
This fantasy, this will to lose
This constant abuse, this constant high
Slowly drawing us in, until we are consumed in the lie
some are addicted to the pain
convinced it's searing burn keeps them sane
Their flesh melting off them, but they fall with a smile
Unwilling to admit that they all live in denial.
