I absolutely love this. the action of the gun and the recoil is just.. so beautiful. I can only see ONE small detail that was over looked. His trigger finger doesnt pull back when he fires. Other then that great job ;3

Nice fluid animation! Could do with a bit of knockback. I remember when my dad taught me to shoot his rifle he practically had to hold me in place XD Good tho

Ah, okies! I guess there is minimal kick to it, will keep in mind for when I work this!

Or he's REALLY good at it and has gotten super steady over time If you haven't already, I'd look up some soldiers firing off, though, maybe on youtube if you can find it. Should give you some inspiration for how experienced men handle their guns ^^

Oh, don't ya worry! I've researched plenty into it!
And I'm not sure if ya were intending some kinda pun with that! I have plenty of weapons, and I'm pretty sure I know how to handle em!

Maybe I was
I believe you Sometimes though its harder to draw things from a 3rd person point of view that we do all the time in 1st tho. Either way you did impressively well ^^

Heh, cheeky!
But yes, sometimes getting the image to look right from a different perspective can be difficult.
But I'm glad I managed to impress ya! ^^

I like the animation, but I'm not much of a fan of the TAR in terms of looks.

Ah, well, I love the TAVOR for its Bulpup design, since my first love of other similar tools, like the FAMAS and SA80.

You're on to something with this animation. I'd suggest using more frames at a higher frame rate to diffuse the previously mentioned jerkiness. You seem to have keyframes fairly planned out, but a little tweaking and in-betweening is in order. Try to visualize the recoil's effect on the body in slow motion, and draw those frames as well. How does it affect the muscles, bones, shoulder, etc? For instance, you have animated the head and front arm moving back with the recoil, but the neck and torso remain static. The firing of the rifle will have an impact on his whole body, jerking it all back.
Some secondary movement would be nice too, try to visualize what hair would do if the head were to be jerked back by the recoil. The hair will be moving for a few frames after the initial action of the body has stopped. The same is true for the ears (maybe even his shirtsleeves as well).

Wonderful critque! Sadly, the main answer to it all is that I don't have the technology for it. Unfortunatly my knowledge of Flash animation is about nil, so what I work in is Adobe Image Ready, and this is the fastest that I can get the frame rate to go without making the time gap between shots fired too long, which means it would be difficult to squeeze extra frames into the animation. Plus this was a quick slap up, and animation scenes were looped, about ony 6 different frames for the stance and shooting.
Also, the extra I plan for the animation is that the character will reload the weapon, so I'll be putting most of the work into that!

It's a wonderful animation bar just a few things - it's a little jerky, his hand doesn't move on the trigger, and I'm pretty sure his hair should move at least a little when he fires.
Hope I helped a little.

No, thats great critique! ^.^
I have had quite a few comments on the trigger finger, so thats gonna be worked on, and I dunno bout the hair... Don't want to shake it about too much, but I'll look into it and see if I can adjust it at all.
And its jerky cause I'm just usin Adobe Image Ready, so its all I get to work with!

Well, just a little ruffle backwards will do fine XD
Oh god, Image Ready. I don't even know how to animate in Image Ready, but it always opened when I opened my copy of Photoshop and it pissed me off so I hate it.
Lol, Adobe Image Ready is AIR.

it's pretty good mate...but you should make the colors darker till he fires...I think it would have a greater effect.

Hmm, okies. I added the shadow to show the brighter, closer light for it, but where do you think I should make it darker?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Malchitos In reply to PhilFox [2009-12-29 00:27:00 +0000 UTC]
make all the colors darker...then when you fire lighten up to the level it is now...but keep that darker outer shadow you got now. Also keep the yellow traces...that works well I think.
Also show the finger squeeze the trigger.

Aaaah, so overal, just darker, okies. not a prob.
