Description
Quick facts:v.1.5 - 2008/04/18 (PL) -- As suggested, moves up the Update button
v.1.4 - 2008/01/19 - OK, so (un)check all is outdated, remove it!
v.1.3 - 2008/01/16 - Changes to cope with the new look of the list.
v.1.2 - 2007/12/11 - After suggestion by `b0x0rz , I added the sort feature, and another suggestion made me add the Check all/Uncheck all features.
I also renamed from Deviants - Friends - combo box.
v.1.1 - 2007/11/05 - After another thread in the suggestion forum, I change the title from "Friends List" to "87 Friends". Of course, the number is the real count of your list...
v.1.0 - 2007/07/04 - Creation.
See my Information on Greasemonkey scripts journal entry for all needed information!
For fast, easier installation, you can go to the corresponding UserScripts.org page.
More infos:
In the suggestion forum, I saw the Drag and Drop Friends request, to ease the dispatching of friends into groups.
I had the idea to write a little Greasemonkey script to help a bit.
So, what do my script does? The screenshot says it all: it adds a combo box below the Username field, filled with the list of friends found on the page. If you select one friend, its name goes to the Username field. That's all.
Not much, but it avoids typing, and no more typos!
And if you click on the title of one column of check boxes (not the name column!), the unchecked boxes are bubbled up to the top of the column, allowing to see at a glance who have been forgotten.
I also moved the Update button on top, it seems easier for people... Or perhaps I should duplicate it? Or make this feature optional.

Instruction s are clear, however, it is unclear where the file will be placed.
On the MAC I tag these files in case there is an uninstal that has to be occured, and I wrote to you on the location to be store or where it is placed by GM so can label it and put a comment on what it is please.
any clues on the location ?

Good question. The place where the renamed file is has no importance. After GM recognizes the script, it makes a copy, renamed after the @name tag (top of the script), irrelevant of the original file name. The copy is in the Firefox profile. You can locate it by right-clicking on the GM icon (after installation of the script) and by choosing "Manage scripts..." menu item. Then select the script and click Edit button. It should open the local copy in an editor, so you can locate it easily. 👍: 0 ⏩: 1
On my Windows XP system, the profiles are set in C:\Documents and Settings\
If, when clicking on Edit, nothing happens, you have to set an editor for GM. For this, type about:config in the address bar, then grease in the Filter field. You should see three settings, including greasemonkey.editor. By double-clicking it, you can set the path to your favorite editor.
... That's probably more info than you wished for, but at least it can be used by other people, I think.

I can't seem to get GM to open this.
But I've been waiting for something like this; it'll be a shame if it can't work.

Make sure you remembered to rename the file with the extension .user.js
I forgot it and FF just displayed the code. Renaming it and re-dropping it displays the Open script dialog of GM.

Well, I just downloaded it by right-clicking on the Download link, and selecting 'Save the target of this link' menu entry (or similar). It worked.

Don't left click on it, right click on it, select Save target of this link under (or something similar) and save it on disk.
I just tried, it works for me.

BTW, I see: "*DigitalDreamers has requested that you make Deviants - Friends - combo box available as a print." which is a bit strange... Perhaps you wanted to click on Favourites, instead? Unless you want my screenshot on a mug?

That'll teach me to pay more attention!!
I can't actually get the script to install now though, something wrong with GM I think

Can't help you much, other deviants reported no problems. Personally, I prefer to save the script on disk (right-click on the download link) then drag'n'drop it into Firefox, perhaps it can work if you first tried to left-click on the link.

Following newer input, perhaps you forgot to rename the script so it has a .user.js extension.
I rewrote my Comments to stress that out!

Ah. Is it a problem with my script itself? Ie. can you can load another script? Did you restarted the browser, just in case?

I have one other script installed, but I don't think it's a problem with your script... I've tried all the restarts etc & nothing, I think it just doesn't like me lol
I have looked into the issue & it seems a lot of people have the same problem with GM being unable to install new scripts

Strange... FYI, I have GM 0.7.20070607.0 and FF 2.0.0.5 and I installed a little test script without problem. Hopefully the issue will be corrected in the future.

Not a bad idea at all. I hope v5.5 has a feature to directly move deviants into groups from the interface, such as in [link]

Ah, first reaction!
I am glad you like it and it is useful to somebody.
I have another script, to improve before submitting: it adds a combo box after the message count to jump to most parts of own's account (gallery, favourites, etc.).
