Even though I'm a fan of both series, not sure such a thing would actually work very well in terms of gameplay. Or be received very well from both sides. However, I'd read a fanfic of this if someone made one.

Sonic Lost World is very compatible with Mario.
It would be very easy to make a "Mario and Sonic 3D Land" based on it.

I think the gameplay would work out fine. I'd like to think of it kinda like the 2008 Prince of Persia game where there was two characters that worked hand in hand for platforming and combat. The trick would be combining the speed of Sonic and the power of Mario so it wouldn't feel disjointed. Sadly with Sonic games having a bad reputation most of the time, I can see why Mario fans would be annoyed by this.Β
