playing around with layers and the blending affect that layers can do gives you interesting results a lot of times.
but photoshop has so many more editing abilities than even i have tried. dA has some awesoem photoshop tutorials, too.

Well, I thought the crop of the face was a bit too odd on it's own. That and it's a rather in your face kind of thing, so it makes me bashful (me being the model as well).
Aaaand, the vivid up close shot, with the dreamy far away shot makes it feel kind of harmonious and balanced.
