Pfffft,ok,that's kinda age meme, it's just Batu in the age of 25 and in the age of 45 (and he died in 47-48)upd - no,it's not leprosy or syphilis.

As much as he is an arrogant jerk I grew to like him and I hate to see him like that.. Looks like there is a lot happened to him by this age. And this seems like a nasty illness.

Uhm.. I feel kind of silly for feeling sorry about them and ther fate. I mean I have no idea what kind of persons they REALLY were, but as warriors and such they surely wasn't some "sweet guys", yet I feel sorry for how their life went meeting a nasty end.

He wouldn't. Voluntarily he conquered only that part of Europe,which Jochi didn't conquered - it was his part of father's inheritance.In late 40's and 50's Batu didn't support Karakorum's agressive politic.
It doesn't mean he was a fluffy dandelion,but he was perspicacious and he was smarter than his brothers - new war wasn't favorable to him.

Yeah I know a bit of the brothers story, that Jochi was suspected not to Genghis Khan's son and he didn't became his succesor despite being the first born or so the story goes.
