This is Salen (aka: 'Dingo') from my novel set Star Trek: Extinction [link] , Star Trek: Treason (where Salen makes his debut) [link] , and Star Trek: Black Diamond Dogs (Salen's own novel) [link] .

Bio: Salen’s parents were scientists who worked off world, the family was on Geti-9 when Vulcan was destroyed. When Salen was 13, shortly after the loss of their homeworld, his father decided to move his family to the new Vulcan settlement. Unfortunately they hired the wrong men to give them passage, Salen’s parents were slaughtered and Salen himself became a prisoner to be continuously cut for his blood. In the years since Vulcan’s destruction Vulcan blood has found a new high value on the black market as an aphrodisiac (a common fate for endangered species). Held captive for three years he gained the scars he still wears, even his hair turned ivory from the ordeal. When his captors were slaughtered by rivals Salen feared he would die of starvation trapped in his basement prison, however rescued by local police he was then quickly handed over to Starfleet. Lost, alone, no home, and no family Salen was temporarily placed with Admiral Christopher Pike...who quickly adopted the shy young teenager.

Current Assignment: Salen caught the attention of some very powerful men in Starfleet and was ‘invited’ to be in a team known as the Black Diamond Dogs, Starfleet’s elite black operations. The Black Diamond Dogs use the kind of force that normal Starships are prohibited from using to removed Federation and Starfleet threats. Salen and his teammate Razor run missions from rescuing the kidnapped to destroying drug running rings.

The medal around his neck is Admiral Pike's insignia.
