"Now...about your new room. We need to find some things to put in it, don't we?"Cyril just shrugged at first, but then he thought of something and went over to the paper. A MATRESS FOR THE BED WOULD BE NICE.
Chase nodded. "Did we ever get you an actual pillow too?"
Cyril thought back, then shook his head. No, no pillow... just the blanket.
Chase nodded. Those were easy enough to get. Just needed to ask one of the attendants around the castle to sew a thin piece of cloth with some sort of soft material in it...yeah, that could work.
"Well, we can get those things. Why not make a list of some things you need or want?"
Cyril shrugged. Okay, if you really want me to. There wasn't really much he could think of, though.
"Well, I can help. Though maybe seeing it and looking around better might help you know?" Chase offered. "We could head upstairs to my room." Chase sat up, holding out his hand. "Yes, that will completely help."
Cyril nodded. Grabbing the paper again, he wrote, AND WE CAN PUT MY CLOTHES AND STUFF IN THERE TOO. Climbing into the prince's hand, he held out the note to him.
Chase got the note from him and was getting up and walking as he read it. "Hey, yes. That box wasn't bad...it could be like a wardrobe, if we tweaked it. Or a closet, if the room doesn't already have one."
Chase tucked the paper into his pocket and jogged up the stairs that led up a to a second story of the library, a loft with chairs, a colorful carpet, and a smaller bookcase on the wall with some of the favorite books of the castle's people. Chase went past the decorative area, exiting out of a wide pass-through.
The two found themselves at the end of the main hallway upstairs, Chase's room not far down.
Cyril was pretty sure he'd seen a wardrobe in the room already, but he was too busy trying to keep his balance to try and let Chase know. When the prince went up the stairs, the bouncy movement caused Cyril to fall over in his palm, but the human sat up again right after, still okay.
Chase entered his room after a few steps, closing the door. He walked over to his table in front of the window, where the house was and put Cyril down. The roof had even been brought in and set next to it at some point.
Cyril immediately went inside again. It seemed that the chair had fallen over in transit, so he righted it. Sitting down, he looked up at Chase, giving him a smile.
Chase smiled back, before looking around the room himself, just to see what the could do about it's emptiness. "Hmm...well, we've asked and received other things your size before. I'm sure we could request a few things in a letter. Paid for, of course. We just need to know what to ask for..."
Chase went away briefly to find the box of Cyril's clothes. He also grabbed the blanket as an afterthought.
The chest from earlier had been set at the foot of the bed, still empty. Chase returned, setting the box outside the door. "Hm. Yes, this box would take up a lot of room, but I see he's given you a shelf with a metal bar attached under it...if only we had hangers." he briefly wondered just what those could be made of.
He took out the paper and set it on the table Cyril had as well in the room...the paper didn't even fit on it completely. He continued, "Or could make some...hangers, I mean. Its only a few outfits here. And the other stuff like the soap and mirror that were also in that case from the bathroom...well, those could just go in the chest since you don't have a dresser."
Cyril got up again, grabbing the box of clothes and dragging it inside. Opening it, he pulled out a few shirts and put them on a shelf in the wardrobe. Other things went on other shelves. Though it would have been nice to be able to hang things up, soon Cyril had most of his clothes in the wardrobe.
Chase watched him while he did it. "Maybe some little paper clips would work..."
Chase looked up at him, then shrugged. Yeah, that could work...
Chase nodded, walking to sit on the edge of his bed. "Okay. I'll look into getting several for you. There are some on almost every one of my teachers' work areas. Anyway...um, I guess that'll go on the list too."
Cyril nodded again. Now that he was unpacked to his satisfaction, he pulled his blanket over to the empty bedframe and piled it on top.
Chase watched Cyril do this. He suddenly stood again. "You know what, I think I know how to get you a mattress for that. I'll be right back, okay?" Even as he was saying this, Chase was already half way to the door.
Cyril looked up, startled, but before he could even really react, the prince was gone. So Cyril decided to just wait. His gaze fell on the huge piece of paper lying atop his desk, and he wandered over to it. There wasn't too much written on there yet...
The young prince was actually gone nearly 15 minutes, searching, yet knowing exactly what it was he was looking for. It was awhile before he even came back, leaving Cyril on his own.
At first, Cyril just waited. Then, when he realized the prince might be a while, he tore off the part of the paper he'd written on already, flipped it over, and began to write anew. He took care to use his best handwriting, and even wrote in regular print, rather than his usual all caps. This was that important.
Cyril finished up a few minutes before the prince returned, and he folded up his lengthy note and stashed it in a drawer of the desk, where he felt sure Chase wouldn't think to look.
Chase came running in, excited and holding what he had found triumphantly in hand. His face appeared, though he was slightly out of breath. "Got it! Took me...forever. Sorry." he breathed, reaching into Cyril's room and lifting the blanket off the bed frame. He set a rectangular, soft mattress that fit near perfectly into the frame. He smiled, seeing that it fit.
Cyril's eyebrows went up. Where had the prince found that? Puzzled, he went over and sat down on the mattress, then lay down. Closing his eyes, he smiled a bit and shot Chase a brief thumb's up.
Chase beamed at Cyril. "Great! We sort of had it around. Heh, it wasn't really used at all, but I remembered where it was. Well, sort of. I knew it was in a closet, but there are, like, twenty of those just upstairs...strangely, I found it in the library storage after checking four others. Huh." Chase shrugged before taking the mini blanket and dropping it over Cyril's form on his new bed. "So you think of anything else?"
Cyril had to move a few layers of blanket off his face, since although the thing was small to the giants, it was still pretty big to him. Once his head was clear, he shook it in response to Chase's question.
Chase nodded. "Well, we've got all day to think."
Cyril nodded, climbing out of bed. He went over to the paper he'd left on the desk, and, after hesitating for a few seconds, wrote, I NEED TO TELL YOU SOMETHING. He held up the note without looking at Chase.
Chase seemed a little distracted. "I have a science lesson later...astronomy...would you want to come for that?" he glanced down to Cyril briefly. "You don't have to, I guess, though I don't know what else you'd do..."
Cyril frowned. Wasn't Chase paying attention? This was important! But... well, maybe he could tell him later... Sighing just a bit, he nodded to the prince's question.
Chase genuinely hadn't noticed Cyril write anything. He simply waited for Cyril to come out so they could go. He also placed on the room's roof, just to see if it fit. It fit rather nicely, actually. "Wow...the carpenter did a really nice job."
Cyril jumped at the sudden movement above his head, but he had to agree with Chase's analysis. He couldn't believe how good this looked! Even from the inside, where it would be so hard for the giant to get at the corners, the ceiling fit in perfectly. He could hardly see the seam. Chase waited for Cyril to come out. He was admiring the handy work, though the carpenter said it had taken him little time.

Yeah... not so good at keeping scheduled chapters, so... sometime. Guaranteed there will be more, though!
