Kiara stared in both shock and horror as her future mate munched on a grub. "Seriously, Kovu?!"

The dark lion smiled before swallowing. "Slimy, yet satisfying." He answered.

Nala eyed her mate as Simba avoided her gaze. "You really are a bad Influence."

The golden lion swallowed. "Hey, I'm just introducing him to a better variety of grubs!"

"Better variety- YOU EAT BUGS TOO!?!" Kiara cried, horrified.

Kovu munched on a beetle before explaining. "The Outlands didn't have much to offer, why do you think Nuka nicknamed me Termite? The Pridelands have better grubs, definitely."

Simba swallowed a worm before speaking. "These are nothing. One day, I'll take you to the jungle I grew up in and show you a true feast. Timon and Pumbaa know all the good spots."

"Gross!" Kiara said.

"Speaking of those two, come on, Timon said to meet him at the waterhole. He said they found a rare delicacy."

Nala rolled her eyes. "Old habits die hard." She muttered.

My guess is Kovu ate what little bugs there were in the Outlands. You can imagine Simba's joy to discover he wasn't the only bug eating lion. Timon and Pumbaa were equally excited and soon introduced the young lion to the Hakuna Matata eating style.
