Thought I'd share the base I made and used to make icons for Sonia, Iola, and Dream. X3 This is for your guys' benefit ;D

It's supposed to be for females though; I don't think it'll work for males...

***NOTICE***
This is a PaintDotNet file, so if you don't have Paint.NET, then ya can't use this base

You can get the latest version of Paint.NET here.

Once you have that, you simply turn on layers you'll be using (as well as coloring them accordingly) and save the files as separate, multiple PNG files (or just 1 if you don't want it to animate). If your character has any features that go in front of or behind the head, then you must add them yourself. Since each Sonic character is different and unique in its own way, it's up to you to show where that uniqueness lies within your own character.

If you plan on animating the icon, put all the frames for it together and combine them using GIF animation software. For me, I use Game Maker's Sprite Editor to compile the PNGs together into one GIF file, and I use Microsoft GIF Animator to properly animate and loop the GIF file.

There are many other ways to animate the GIF, but this way is faster and free, since many GIF Animators are limited trial sessions in which they force you to buy it after a short period of time and, believe me, it's not cheap. So best to do it this way.

Remember people: deviantART will only allow you to use the icon if it is under 15KB! So don't animate it too much, or else the person you're making it for won't be able to use it!
