Was just browsing through Photography and pinpointing night photographs before I came to this, and it surprised me as to how many elements in this piece really resembled a night photo. Molten and fiery in some places, which gives the object a "temperature". Most attractive is the way the reflections and colors combined to form a myraid of shapes. Almost all of the edges in the object are sharp, yet some of them seem to suggest motion because of an underlying blur, and that makes the piece come alive. Contrast is amazing because of the dark background and the strength of the hues...some parts looking strong as a street lamp. The off-center composition is a good one, but in my opinion it would have been great if we could see the entire object.
