Unbelievable.... how do you get close enough to get such a great macro shot....??
I've taken some pictures of dragonflies during the last week but I was glad if I could get closer than 1 meter before they flew away. Did you use special equipment like macro lenses?

I have a 10x macro lens that I used for this shot It's like a filter that goes on the end

I also have some macro lenses but they are only 4x Quite a big diffrence...
Where did you capture this? With such a macro you have to use a stand for the camera, haven't you??

This little guy was perched on the top of my car antenna They like it up there for somereason
I haven't tried using a tripod for it yet, but I was holding the camera for this shot
It helps to use a tripod tho, hehe much easier

yeah that's right but how often do have the time to prepare a tripod when shooting dragonflies, they're so goddamn fast and turbulent.... yours seem to be really gentle in that way....

yeah thats why i dont use em, because they fly away, but if you wait long enough, they come back to the same spot

I used my 18-55mm lens with a 10x Macro

But...how did you get the dragonfly to sit still?

Phoenixtear In reply to themobius [2006-06-22 11:14:54 +0000 UTC]
hehe magic !
no seriously, they perch on the car antenna's, and so i crepped up to him and snapped away, sometimes they're really good and will sit there, but sometimes they'll get scared really easily and fly around and wait till u move away for them to land again... this one was a little bit of that, it took a few tries b4 he got used to me.
